So you are getting married. Congratulations!!! As you prepare for the biggest day of your life, now comes the fun; arranging for the church, hiring someone to officiate, selecting a location for the reception, getting a dress, writing your vows, flowers, rings, bridesmaids, groomsmen, invitations, food, the cake, and, of course, finding a wedding photographer.

At Cecil Photography, we understand how important this event is to you and we would like to make the photography portion of your wedding something special. We also understand that most people are not made of money, and that cost is a consideration in selecting a photographer. But, before we talk about pricing, let me explain a little about wedding photography.

There are three primary aspects of the wedding shoot; portraiture, photojournalism, and fine art. Portraiture is exactly what it sounds like. This is where as a photographer we attempt to get all of the shots of the wedding party and family groups. This is a requirement for any wedding photographer and, when done right, can provide some wonderful images. Photojournalism documents the event. These images capture preparation, walking down the aisle, the ring exchange, the first kiss, the cutting of the cake, fathers dance, the toast, the bouquet toss, the guests, etc. The photojournalism images will be the ones you will look at to remember the event in years to come, and also discover things that you may not seen the day of your wedding. The final aspect is fine art. Fine art images are special images which round out the wedding portfolio. Pictures of details in the dress, a necklace, a flower girl straining to get a look at the bride, table decorations, a reflection of the bride in a stained glass window, a shot of the bride and groom kissing with the veil over their heads with the sunset streaming in, and much more. These images are a combination of happenstance and planning. These ultimately are the images that you may consider enlarging and hanging on your wall.

At Cecil Photography, we work to provide all three primary aspects of wedding photography. Where possible, we setup studio lighting for our portraiture to ensure the best images. Additionally, we are a full service photography studio with on-site production facilities. This allows us considerable flexibility in capturing and reproducing images. We have found that the best way to get the images you want of your wedding is to get to know you. In order to get to know you better we would like to also do your engagement/announcement photography. This helps me understand how to better photograph you on your wedding day. Additionally, with all of our packages we include a consultation. At the consultation we will put together a photographic plan for your wedding. We create a plan for the basic portraiture and photojournalism as well as planning for those, oh-so-special, fine art pictures (they do take planning). This plan may include specific timings in order to catch the sunrise or sunset.

While I mentioned packages, most of our product (printing, albums, etc.) is a-la-carte. We have found that no package meets everyone’s need and that as such every wedding package is a special package. Our packages include the photography, the consult, post production (this is a critical component), local travel, a CD of proofs (in all but our basic package), and selected printed proofs. The critical component is the post production work. For all but our most basic package, for every hour of shooting, we allocate about 90 minutes back in the studio turning the captured images into something special. We also offer a completely a-la-carte option. If it suits your needs, you can pay strictly by the hour.

We are also very flexible with our photography and encourage out-of-the-box thinking (like taking some of your critical pictures, especially those we want to stage, a day or two before the wedding).

We do not include albums in our package pricing, but we definitely do albums. Our album pricing is based on the album you want, not the one we want to provide. You can pick your album out on-line and you will know the price that we pay for it. We only add a 20% handling fee and the price of creating and printing the images to fill it. If you would like one of the new magazine style albums, we will sit down together and create it. Again you just pay the cost of the album, a 10% handling fee, and an hourly charge for album development.

Our ultimate package allows us to capture your entire wedding experience (practice, practice dinner, bridal breakfast/brunch, ceremony, reception, etc.) and includes a 60 minute studio or location engagement/announcement photo session with 4 edited images, 1 hour consult, 2 full days of photography with assistant, second photographer at ceremony, 28 hours of post production work, DVD of proofs, 240 printed proofs in proof book, and local travel to up to 3 locations ($10475 value)
